Here at Envision Acne and Skin Care Center in Manalapan, New Jersey we have spent years researching different types of ingredients, which effectively target acne working with a laboratory who formulate our PoreInfusion range of acne safe products to ensure the satisfaction of our customers.
Every ingredient used in our range of cleansers, scrubs, toners, gels, serums, moisturizers & hydrators, masks, and sunscreens have undergone a 3-6 month clinic testing period to eliminate any comedogenic factors and have been carefully selected to treat acne prone skins. Due to their ability to; unclog blocked pores, eliminate excess oil, reduce inflammation, balance the skin’s PH levels, minimize redness, keep the skin hydrated and speed up the healing process they made the cut on the list of our “Favourite skincare ingredients to help heal acne”.
While we’re not able to list every ingredient we use in this article, we wanted to share with you the benefits of 10 of our personal favorites, so that you can gain a more in-depth understanding as to how each works to support your acne journey.
Benzoyl Peroxide
Used as a key ingredient in our PoreInfusion acne face and body wash, acne gels and active spot treatments to treat mild to moderate acne, benzoyl peroxide has multiple functions. In addition to removing excess oil from the skin and exfoliating the inner lining of the pore wall to prevent it from becoming clogged, it also reduces acne, cystic breakouts, redness and inflammation in the skin.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is an ingredient used in our sensitive skin cleansing wash and calming toner. Renowned for its hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties, aloe vera helps to relieve sunburn, calm irritation and deep cleanse the skin, while supporting the natural healing and cell rejuvenation process..
Mandelic Acid
We use mandelic acid in some of our face washes, serums, and scrubs due to its exfoliating and skin lightening abilities.
Mandelic acid has many benefits for acne prone and aging skin, but most importantly it is:
- Exfoliating and anti-inflammatory: While it gently exfoliates the surface of the skin it will also penetrate deep into the pore to help slough off dead skin cells and clear out congested pores. Mandelic acid is also beneficial for fading acne scars and dark spots, as well as for treating hyperpigmentation in all skin colors. It has been found to stimulate collagen production, which can make skin firmer and more elastic, make wrinkles less noticeable, and have anti-aging effects with continuous use. This makes it perfect for clearing adult acne.
- Anti-fungal: for those who suffer from the combination of acne and folliculitis (which is a fungal infection of the skin) mandelic acid can work wonders to clear up the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid
As a primary ingredient in our hydrating toner and hydra gel, in addition to the PoreInfusion clear shield waterproof sunscreen, hyaluronic acid is often referred to as the King of hydration. Naturally present in our skin, this beneficial ingredient and humectant helps to keep the skin supple, plump and firm due to its ability to pull moisture from the air and absorb it into the skin’s surface. Hyaluronic acid is also known for itsanti-agingg and anti-inflammatory properties and ability to enhance the overall health and appearance of the skin by smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, while strengthening the skin’s protective barrier.
Lavender
Lavender is a very common skincare ingredient used by many cosmetic houses all over the world, for its ability to calm the skin with its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. We use lavender in our hydrating toner, due to its detoxifying, antiseptic and anti-microbial benefits. Lavender helps to support the healing process and decrease the appearance of newly formed scars.
Vitamin C
Incorporated into our calming toner, Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid is a powerful antioxidant, which has the ability to protect the skin from the effects of environmental pollution while stimulating collagen to reduce visible signs of ageing.
Witch Hazel
When it comes to targeting acne witch hazel is an extremely useful ingredient. Often referred to as an astringent, it removes excess oil from the skin, reduces the size of pores and keeps the skin’s natural PH levels balanced which in turn helps to prevent the unwanted growth of bacteria. Witch Hazel, is also believed to help reduce inflammation, decreases redness, soothe irritation and speed up the healing process. This versatile ingredient can be found in our PoreInfusion hydrating toner.
Salicylic Acid
This is one of the key ingredients in our antibacterial toner, as it acts quickly when applied topically to a pimple, due to its ability to exfoliate the inside walls of the pore, target bacteria and reduce inflammation. Acting as a mild exfoliant, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory salicylic acid also helps to even out skin tone and calm irritation.
Vitamin B
The benefits of Vitamin B in skincare, in particular Vitamin B3 Niacinamide and Vitamin B5 panothenic acid /Panthenol are not to be underestimated. Acting as a natural anti-inflammatory and humectant to draw moisture to the skin and support regeneration, panthenol (the alcohol compound of panothenic acid) has a calming effect on the skin, with Niacinamide (B3) further preventing moisture loss, while also targeting hyperpigmentation and reducing the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores. Both ingredients can be found in our popular Vitamin B lightweight moisturizing lotion.
Zinc Oxide
Zinc Oxide is on the list of most beauty editor’s favourite sunscreen ingredient. Famed for its ability to block a wide spectrum of UV rays and address minor burns and signs of irritation, it’s known as a natural active skincare ingredient. Zinc Oxide is also believed to help combat skin inflammation, helps improve acne breakouts and prevents the premature signs of ageing. We use Zinc Oxide in our PoreInfusion Clear Shield Waterproof SPF50 Sunscreen.
