How To Clear Up Acne For Prom?

13448684_mProm is one of the most special nights of your high school years and you want to make sure that you will look and feel beautiful on that evening. Finding the perfect dress is important but what is  really going to stand out is how much your face will glow and how confident you will feel in your own skin.

Worrying about your skin and your break outs will only stress you out, so here are some great tips on how to clear up your acne before prom.

1. Start with your diet

There are many foods that are known to trigger break outs and inflammation in the skin so it’s good to stay away from it if you want acne free skin.

Acne causing foods you should stay away from:

  • Dairy and milk products: dairy is the number one cause of inflammation and pimples. Here is a great article on why does dairy cause acne.
  • Salt and Iodized salt: high amount of Iodine can also be a trigger.
  • Seaweed, sushi, kelp, spirulina, chlorella (anything that is high in iodine).
  • Peanut Butter: peanuts can actually make the skin produce more oil.
  • Soy Products: soy is very high in estrogen and can cause hormonal imbalances.
  • Sugar: high amounts of sugar can cause your insulin levels to spike up and trigger hormonal acne.

2. Create a good skin care routine

Caring for your skin should be your number one priority. Make sure to choose the appropriate products for your type of acne and skin. Your skin care routine should include at least 4 steps morning and at night.

  1. Cleanse
  2. Tone
  3. Exfoliate
  4. Hydrate

Finding the right skin care products can be confusing and overwhelming so we recommend contacting an Acne Specialist who can help pick the right products for you.

3. Start getting professional treatments

The changing of seasons and the lack of humidity can lead to acne, caused by dry dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. The best treatment for acne prone skin is the Hydrating Acne treatment with LED light. The LED light has fantastic benefits to reduce acne, fade scarring and to rebuild the lost collagen in the skin.

4. Don’t forget about Back Acne

Getting rid of acne on the back can be a concern to those who are planning to wear a strapless dress. You must use an acne fighting body wash like PoreInfusion Mandelic Scrub (morning & night) and apply acne medication at least once a day. Did you know that you could get acne treatments for your back too? If you want your skin to be flawless for the prom, start your treatments on time and be diligent with home care.

5. Tanning… Should you or should you not?

Let’s be honest, we all look better with a tan! It is very tempting to get that beautiful, bronze Amazonian look from a tanning booth, but there are many dangers that come with exposure to UV lights.

Tanning is the number one cause of skin cancer! It will also age your skin at an accelerated  rate and cause all kinds of pigmentation problems. Sometimes it can also cause acne and breakouts. So, our advice would be: please don’t!!!

If you are still insisting on getting some color and a healthy glow we recommend doing a spray tan. It looks natural on the skin and will give you the same effect as the tanning booths. Just make sure that they use a natural water based formula that will not clog your pores.
